jandoe’s recommendation: worthy movies!
i feel like as if i’d let my Sunday gone to waste, especially if we were to talk about it in terms of time… but i’m not going to keep feeding myself with guilt and regret- let’s just learn from it and move on, shall we?
spent the late evening all the way till now editing stuff for the newsletter- lately, 2008 seems to seriously be The Power of Words in Writing for me- i’m constantly surrounded by enunciations, vocabularies, grammars and whatnot else that it’s driving me a little off the wall honestly.
on a lighter (mysterious) note, i think i’m seriously considering pursuing a particular new hobby- i’m not going to reveal anything yet, because i’m tired of keep having to defend my stand against menace and baseless judgments- but i sincerely have given it some serious thoughts.
plus in the end, the only conclusion i seem to be able to come up with is heck, why not?
here’s the little idea that completes the (current) puzzle though: if one day this thing i hope to pursue works out well, i’ll be sure to let you know just what it is ;)
lately, i think i’m really loving Asian movies- maybe i’m just tired of having grown up to mostly the Hollywood entertainment scene that a different kind of fresh air feels real nice, but honestly, i really, really feel that the real good Asian movies are worthy and up-to-par (if not better!) with what Hollywood produces.
i’m not just speaking about Japanese movies mind you, i’d also been watching some Thai ones lately, and catching up with the Korea/ China/ Hong Kong movie-scene too- i just love how their ever-growing belief of “life is always something more” is constantly being tested; its never just about love, death, sex, drama or even culture alone- they’re always a lot of things meshed into one with an infinitely humbling message.
do catch these two great movies on Kirana (it’s seriously becoming my favourite movie channel lately, haha) if you will-
Nada Sou Sou is a intricately beautiful simple story about a complicated siblings relationship between a brother and his younger half-sister- there’s a certain kind of unprecedented irony at the end of the movie (wait for the credits to roll!), one that i can’t help but smile over even now, when i think about it.
Seasons Change, on the other hand, is a witty and amusing coming-of-age story: the kind i love the most i think, because of the tales of friendship, first love, and future talks; this is a simple one, but it tugs at my heartstrings anyway!
i did do something fun today though, and that was heading over to the cinema to watch CJ7- i didn’t know what to expect of the story in the beginning because it was one of those random “let’s watch a movie” moment but i’m glad i did; its literally a very simple story with a huge infinite message- plus, the kid actors are all so cute and brilliant!
do watch them if you can!
