am i counting my chickens before they hatch?
Dude: (said something)
N: (said something in reply)
Dude: Well, at least you got the overseas scholarship!! (rudely)
N: Yeah, after 5 failures. This had been my 5th, the last one.
Dude: …Oh. Well, congrats anyway.
yeah man, everyone has their own hardship and stories to tell;
i’m not an exception so for one, i do believe that yes i definitely deserve this, Alhamdulillah.
——-
fact: 10 overseas scholars from 4 000 applicants- i’m one of the 10.
fact: i’m their first transfer student scholar ever and the first in peninsular Malaysia to be heading off to the US of A.
fact: so far, i’m the only one who’s allowed to fly off to US- another scholar who’s pursuing the A-Levels had asked if she could apply to US later on and their answer to her? No. Weird much?
fact: they told her, “we only send students to US for geoscience.” Well, we all know my degree right? Environmental engineering, not geoscience at all.
so now you see why i am very, very fortunate?
that when i say “its all from Him,” i mean it 200%?
these are why and yes, Alhamdulillah, truly.

i might fly this December itself for January 2010 intake.
the thing is though, applying for January intake means totally axing out the ivy league hopes- but waiting for another year before choosing to fly off for the sake of the ivy leagues… CAN i even get in?
the time-frame or the school?
say the pick is the school- again this question arises: can i even get in?
and huu-haa all about it when i haven’t even signed the scholarship contract!
…but i can’t help but feel just a little bit disappointed and regretful.

why is it, almost always, when we’d gotten what we had always dreamed of having (so we claim anyway), the outcome isn’t all happy-happy-joy-joy?

This is to test ur endurance in the race of temptation. So keep strong. All things will work out to His grand plans for you
i thought of calling you after all the contract deal etc has been signed- when this piece of news is already actually confirmed, that is. i forgot you’re still around reading this! sorry :P
thank you for this btw, i’ll hang in there :)
let me know anyway
Congrats. Looks like you got what you wanted, and it’s almost a miracle the way it went. Just remember to ‘Sujud Syukur’ if you haven’t done it yet.
So what’s this Ivy league you’re talking about? If it’s something you can let go for now, it’s better to just go this December, but it’s your choice. Are you willing to put the scholarship off for a year for it?
I can answer that last question but… I’m not going to. It’ll probably sound rude. :P
“it’s almost a miracle the way it went.”
TRUE THATTTTTT. dah sembahyang syukur :)
ivy league is the term used for awesome schools like Stanford, Cornell etc- obviously super difficult to get in but it’s possible. i think i’m letting it go for ivy league-equivalents.
i can hold on to the scholarship, but i think i’m leaving in december, hopefully.
ahh gotta go, maybe reply you later!
Congrats! I think you should stick to it. And don’t think too much about it.. You’ll be happier that way. Just be thankful for what you’ve got.. and the chances you’ve been given.. Don’t throw them away. Go for it.. Which unis are you planning for anyway?
thank you! (my curious question just HAS to pop up though, do i know you in Real Life? :D)
that aside though, yeap i’m still making some serious thinking but to quote you, i’ll most probably “go for it.” i’m planning to apply to about 5 or 6, they include Colorado State, Ohio State, U of Iowa and giving serious thoughts about U of MIchigan Ann Arbor (Mum’s former U), Illinios Urbana-Champaign and U of Colorado-Boulder –they offer degree in civil with specialty in environmental but they’re US top-ranked for this …but the degree is civil which still makes a heck lot of difference!
(not to mention it requires some talking with the scholarship agent cos my deal was to major specifically in EE)
once again, thank you! :)
I’m happy you’re making a move at it. =)
And may I ask, why so curious whether we’ve met or not? I don’t think so though. I’m a UK citizen.
oh cool i’ve got a UK citizen reading my blog! :D:D:D
i’m trying to make a serious, real move about applications but my scholarship contract hasn’t even arrived yet so lately it’s been feeling like as if i’m giving out too much of “flowery” words but with no proof to back em up- typical of me, always saying things aloud before thinking them through and making sure they actually happen “-_-
sorry about the question (is this the part where i actually apologize? haha) – i’m always asking cos my blog’s not linked (except one) to any friends blogs and not a lot of my actual close friends even know about this space. so in a way i like to believe (keyword being i LIKE to believe so, but most probably not true) that people who drop by are usually people in my small circle of friends.
but i’m always happy when random people drop by and come back (and comment!) – you’ll be my new blogfriend! :)
(okay i’m sounding way too perky right now, geez haha)
i’ll admit i have another curious Q but… i’ll put it in the backbench for now ;p
No it’s fine.. Don’t worry about it. We Brits prefer to be direct, hence the question.
thanks :)
