In the car on our way back to her home two weeks ago, Cousin Sister #2 shared her recent good news about work.
“Wow, congratulations! How long has it been since you started working there?”
“Really? It feels like it’s a lot longer than that.”
She laughed, and so did I. Time sure flies when you’re having a good time, I guess.
We were quiet for a moment before she said, in a quiet voice and as if in afterthought –
“I think I’ve… finally found my… calling. Purpose.”
I remained silent in the passenger seat, holding back my tears; wordless.
When will my own life purposes be revealed unto myself?
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives,
nor the most intelligent,
but the one most responsive to change.”
— Charles Darwin
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water, my friend.”
— Bruce Lee
If there is a wall –
(I am the wall)
I am learning – and trying, hard – to break that wall.
All I ever do is try so damn hard.
